Swansea City manager Steve Cooper believes that his side could have had multiple penalties across the course of the 90 minutes in the defeat at Fulham.

The Swans thought they had nicked a point at Craven Cottage when Freddie Woodman pushed away Aleksandar Mitrovic's penalty in the 89th minute before stopping the rebound with his foot.

It wasn't to be for the south Wales club however as Mitrovic made amends for his earlier miss by nodding in a cross from Aboubakar Kamara four minutes into injury time.

Speaking to the Swansea website after the game, Cooper said: "Any late defeat like that is hard to take, there’s no doubt about it and we are struggling to look past the penalty decisions tonight.

"They were cruel on us, all four of them, so it is tough to take.

"I have no disappointment or frustration with the players, it is the complete opposite.

"They are very angry and feel more than hard done by. We have to make sure it does not affect us going into the next game.

"The first one on Andre was clear in the first half when the keeper brought him down, and the second one with Odoi.

"There is handball, the full-back has his arm in an unnatural position, and then the one the referee gives – Connor does not know where he (Kebano) is.

"That cannot happen. We have been unfairly treated."

Andre Ayew was brought down in the box twice but referee Tim Robinson waved away the penalty appeals with an alleged Joe Bryan hand-ball also going un-noticed by the referee.

The penalty awarded to Fulham was for a Connor Roberts foul on Neeskens Kebano however Cooper and his Swansea side clearly feel as if the decision went against them.

The defeat to Fulham leaves the Swans ninth in the table and five points off of the play-off spots as they look to break into the top six during the final 11 games of the season.

The Verdict

Swansea had some strong shouts for a penalty during the game and they will be rightfully disappointed that the referee chose to ignore their appeals.

The defeat to Fulham is a blow in the race for the top six and the Swansea players will be gutted after losing in the manner that they did. They will be looking to pick themselves up with three points away to Blackburn on Saturday.
