Swansea City manager Steve Cooper was beaming with delight after seeing his team beat Cardiff 1-0 this afternoon.

Cooper was speaking after seeing his side run out winners thanks to a Ben Wilmot goal and the Swans gaffer was clearly delighted with his team.

Speaking to BBC Sport in his post-match press conference, Cooper admitted to being 'proud' of his squad as they saw off Neil Warnock's men at the Liberty.

The win for Swansea moved them back into the promotion picture just behind the likes of West Brom and Preston in the automatic places. In a hard-fought affair between the Welsh rivals, there was little to separate the two throughout.

However, Wilmot's goal midway through the first period proved enough for the home side to take the spoils, and Cooper admitted that he can't be anything but happy with his team.

Cooper went on to say how he 'believes in his players' and the plan they have and touched on the fact the there is 'no drama' if any of his team make a mistake.

Swansea will be hoping to keep the pressure on at the top of the table next weekend when they take on Wigan Athletic away from home.

The Verdict

Looking at this, it's so easy to see why the Swansea players are buying into what Cooper wants them to do.

He seemed genuinely proud of his team and looked full of life in regards to what they had delivered on the pitch.

If he can keep that enthusiasm and his team can keep turning in performances like this, then they won't be far away come the end of the season.
