Steve Cooper has heaped praise on midfielder Jay Fulton following Swansea City's victory over Stoke on Tuesday night.

Swansea returned to winning ways in the Sky Bet Championship last night, after going three games without a win following a defeat to Huddersfield and draws with Coventry and Bristol City.

Cooper's men produced a comfortable performance, though, with Jay Fulton finding the net with a superb effort on the half-hour mark.

Kasey Palmer netted in the 87th minute to secure the win late on, seeing Swansea climb back up to second after a turbulent run of form of late.

Cooper, though, was quick to praise Fulton after his performance last night, with the player's goal rounding off an impressive performance overall.

Speaking to Wales Online, Cooper said: "Jay was excellent. The goal was brilliant and he'll get headlines for that. But his performance I thought was the player he is to be honest.

"He can go a little bit under the radar, but he's a brilliant professional, a good team mate and a good player.

"He can do a lot of things that go unnoticed, but they don't go unnoticed by myself and the coaching staff.

"I thought it was an excellent finish. Nobody quite realised it was a goal for a second, but it was a brilliant finish."

The 26-year-old has made six appearances for Swansea this season, with the Scot proving to be a key player for the Welsh side under Cooper.

The Verdict

It was a superb display from Fulton and a superb win for Swansea.

Stoke are no pushovers, and they look to be a rejuvenated outfit under Michael O'Neill, so it was all the more impressive that the Swans ended up accruing all three points.

There is a hole to be filled in midfield following the injury to Morgan Gibbs-White, and Fulton's performance is making them forget all about the Wolves loanee for the time being.
