Steve Bull thinks that Wolves can finish top 10 in the Premier League next season.

Wolves have taken the Championship by storm this season with promotion guaranteed and only one point needed to confirm them as champions.

They have 95 points from 43 games which is an average of 2.20 points per game.

In contrast, no other side in the Championship has averaged 2 per game. This is remarkable considering how long and gruelling the Championship is for teams.

Some other clubs have pointed out their connections to Jorge Mendes which enabled them to bring in players such as Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota, but it's still been an impressive season nonetheless.

This is what Bull had to say to Sky Sports about Wolves' chances in the Premier League next season: "I think top 10, easy."

"We played Manchester City in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season. We had four one-on-ones, we didn't put them away but we got a draw out of it and lost on penalties and I think if we can do that against Man City we can get up there."

"Nuno is a very humble man, he's a lovely man, he gets his tactics right and he's been doing it all season."

"We've got a chairman who has come in who wants to build something here and be really big. I think this is just the start."

The Verdict

This seems a bit ambitious even if Wolves have dominated the Championship. The gap between the Championship and the Premier League does appear to have narrowed over recent seasons, but it's still not easy for promoted teams to avoid going straight back down.

The loss on penalties to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup isn't the best indicator because of the status of the competition as well as the lack of full strength in City's starting XI.

It's not highly unlikely for Wolves to finish in the top 10 especially considering Newcastle are currently 10th in the Premier League in the season after getting promoted, but they have to avoid setting out too high expectations for this side. This is a long-term project and they may not see instant results in the Premier League.
