Speaking to the media ahead of Aston Villa’s clash with Wigan Athletic this weekend, Steve Bruce has been talking about coming up against his son, Alex, reports @AVFCOfficial on Twitter.

Alex Bruce, who joined Wigan on loan during the January transfer window from Hull City, will come up against his father’s Villa side this weekend, where he will be looking to boost the Latics’ chances of survival.

Since his move to the DW Stadium, Alex has failed to make an appearance for the Latics, but was an unused substitute in the victory over Birmingham City earlier this month.

When asked about which of her family Steve’s wife would be supporting this weekend, the Villa manager replied: “Mrs. Bruce will be wanting Alex to do well but for me to get the result.”

Steve takes his Villa side to Wigan this weekend in fine form, having recorded four victories in their last five league outings, a run of results that has restored some pride at Villa Park after a disappointing campaign.

Wigan are deep in a relegation battle, currently sitting 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship and five points adrift of safety, with just nine fixtures of the season remaining.

Villa fans… are you confident of another three-points this weekend? Let us know in the comments!
