Aston Villa look like they will have to make do with a playoff spot after Fulham continued their winning run last night to move back into second and pile the pressure back on Cardiff City in the hunt for automatic promotion.

It has, however, still been an excellent season for the Villans, who have managed to keep pace for the main with the top six after a slow start and have a hammering of Champions and rivals Wolves to add to the CV for this season too.

Plenty of the Villa players have impressed, and none more so than defender James Chester, who scooped the supporters player of the year award, and was quickly praised by his manager Steve Bruce afterwards, with his professionalism cited by Bruce as a key trait to what makes Chester special.

The words from Bruce are a reassurance to Chester and high praise for a man who has been one of the most consistent performers for the club this season, and has clearly benefited from playing alongside and learning from the experience of John Terry.

Villa fans, how impressed have you been with Chester? Can you keep hold of him? Let us know in the comments!
