Speaking to Aston Villa’s official media, Steve Bruce has confirmed Scott Hogan will undergo scans on his ankle injury in the coming week.

Hogan was replaced in yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion after going over on his ankle in the closing stages of the first-half.

Bruce expressed his concern for Hogan, he told @AVFCOfficial: “Scott Hogan will have scans tomorrow. By looking at the video replay, he’s gone over badly on his ankle.”

Since his arrival at Villa Park during the January transfer window, Hogan has struggled with injuries and has been limited to 13 appearances, scoring just once for Villa.

Hogan’s potential lay-off will concern Bruce, with 19-goal striker Jonathan Kodjia already expected to miss all pre-season and potentially the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign due to a broken ankle he suffered last weekend.

Bruce will be looking to lead a promotion challenge next season, after Villa finished a disappointing 13th this year.
