Aston Villa are ready to hand Yannick Bolasie his first start for the club, with Steve Bruce confirming it will come in the next week.

Bolasie was signed by Villa on a season-long loan late in the summer transfer window, with the winger’s involvement limited so far due to injuries.

The 29-year-old featured as a substitute on three occasions last week, even managing to score his first Villa goal in the 2-0 victory over Rotherham United.

Results have been indifferent in recent weeks, with Bolasie’s 22 minute cameo against Sheffield Wednesday last time out proving to be ineffective, as Bruce’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat.

Villa have another three games over the next seven days, travelling to Bristol City tomorrow evening before welcoming Preston North End to Villa Park on Tuesday.

Bruce has revealed to Villa’s official Twitter account that Bolasie’s full Villa debut is now imminent, with it set to come on either Friday or Tuesday.

Villa’s recent results have put Bruce under pressure, with his side not having the impact many thought they would in the Championship.

After nine fixtures, Villa have just 13 points, which leaves them in mid-table and well behind the early pace setters.

The Verdict

This is exciting for Villa, as a player of Bolasie’s quality getting close to full fitness will improve things.

The winger is direct with his play and will be a constant threat at this level.

With the pressure on Bruce, Bolasie could well be thrown in against Bristol City tomorrow.
