Speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce confirmed there could be a chance Alan Hutton returns to first-team action, reports the club’s official Twitter account.

Hutton missed Tuesday’s defeat to Huddersfield Town, as Bruce’s side failed to build on a string of impressive performances.

The right-back has played a major part in Villa’s season, featuring on 25 occasions in the Sky Bet Championship.

Hutton has impressed recently, helping Villa record three consecutive victories, before missing Tuesday’s defeat.

The January addition of James Bree from Barnsley looked like it might limit Hutton’s opportunities, but the Scottish international has maintained his place in Bruce’s side.

Bruce confirmed Villa would be without a number of other injured players, including Scott Hogan, who is close to returning from an ankle injury.

Villa are looking to put Tuesday’s defeat to Huddersfield behind them this weekend, as they face another promotion contender in Sheffield Wednesday.

Victory for Bruce’s side could seriously dent Wednesday’s top-six ambitions, with Fulham just five-points behind the Yorkshire side.
