West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Bruce has said Middlesbrough will be 'there or there abouts' in terms of promotion this season under Chris Wilder. The Baggies face Boro away from home in their opening match of the Championship campaign this weekend in what should provide a stern test for both sides. Bruce says that he feels it is one of the most difficult fixtures on the calendar this season, but is excited for some competitive action.
“I don’t think we could’ve picked a more difficult one." the Baggies boss said, via the Express and Star. “They’re going to be there or thereabouts under Chrissy [Chris Wilder], that’s for sure. “It’s about to start. I’m pleased it’s about to start – I think we’ve all got to the end of our tether with friendlies, I certainly have. "The real ball comes out on Saturday and we have to make sure we are ready." The exciting Championship clash between the Baggies and Boro is set to take place on Saturday evening. Kick-off at the Riverside Stadium is set for 17:30, with all of the action live on Sky Sports.

The Verdict

This should be a really good clash and is certainly one of the standout fixtures from the opening weekend. The Baggies have made some eye-catching additions this summer so far, with the likes of John Swift, Jed Wallace and Okay Yokuslu linking up with the side. Middlesbrough, though, are expected to be right up there under Chris Wilder, too, although there is still a clear need for a good Championship centre-forward at present. Both sides, regardless of the result this weekend, should be in and around the top six, at the very least, this upcoming campaign.
