Reports from the Mail Online have revealed that Aston Villa are the club leading the charge to sign West Ham winger Robert Snodgrass.

Due to Financial Fair Play restrictions at this current time, Villa aren’t in a position to sign the Scot on a permanent basis but are keen to secure a loan deal for his services.

The 29-year-old only signed for the Hammers in January of this year following the departure of Dimitri Payet to Marseille.

However, Slaven Bilic now sees the former Leeds United winger as being surplus to requirements and is looking to move him on before the transfer window closes.

Steve Bruce has already had a successful transfer window with John Terry and Josh Onomah joining the club on a permanent and loan basis respectively.

The Aston Villa manager also signed Snodgrass during his time as Hull manager and is reportedly hoping their close relationship will be what decides this deal for him.

The Verdict

This would be a fantastic move for Aston Villa.

Snodgrass’ ability on set-pieces alone would be enough to make this a worth while move for the club.

The 29-year-old is a fantastic passer of the ball and was a decent Premier League player so the Championship should be a relatively easy outing for him.

He can provide goals, assists and does his fair share of defensive work too.

This is the sort of deal that could give Steve Bruce’s side a massive boost.
