Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has revealed the areas he is looking to strengthen before the loan window closes in two weeks’ time.

Villa travel to Portman Road to take on Ipswich Town tomorrow and speaking ahead of the match, Bruce has pinpointed problem areas that need addressing between now and August 31.

Keinan Davis and Scott Hogan are both out injured, with the latter linked with a move away from Villa Park, Bruce feels the striking department is one area that needs addressing.

Before the trip to Suffolk to take on Paul Hurst’s men, Bruce added that wide areas are also a concern.

Speaking to Aston Villa’s official site, Bruce said: “We’re light in wide areas and at the top end of the pitch. That’s what we will try and address.”

Aston Villa were late to fore in the transfer window after receiving new investment just before the transfer window closed.

Bruce now has two weeks to make loan signings he feels will strengthen his squad as they look to mount a promotion charge.

The Verdict

This loan window is effetely Aston Villa’s summer.

Steve Bruce was in no position to bring anyone in three weeks ago but now can plan and go after recruits that will strengthen his Villa side.

There are two weeks left to add players on a temporary basis, and Bruce has noticed what areas he needs to bulk out if they are to have any hope of battling it out at the top end of the division.

With two strikers out injured too, the importance of more striking additions has been highlighted, with the need for more service to his goalscorers also a high priority.
