West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Bruce has revealed that Callum Robinson is not set to make his return to action for a couple of weeks due to an injury that he sustained in pre-season.

The Republic of Ireland international was forced off during a friendly with Northampton Town last month and has not featured for the Baggies since this game.

In the absence of Robinson, West Brom managed to seal a draw in their clash with Middlesbrough last weekend.

Boro opened the scoring at the Riverside Stadium in the first-half as Isaiah Jones slotted home from close range.

West Brom levelled proceedings following the break as Jed Wallace teed up John Swift who fired an effort past Middlesbrough goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

Having picked up a point on their travels, the Baggies will now be keen to secure a victory in their showdown with Watford on August 8th.

Ahead of this upcoming fixture, Bruce opted to share an update on Robinson's current situation at the club.

Speaking to the Express & Star about the 27-year-old, Bruce said: "He took a knock against Northampton and he’s still a while off.

"It’s nothing serious, he’s been scanned, but it’s obviously enough to keep him out for a couple of weeks."

The Verdict

With the transfer window set to close in September, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Robinson as he has been linked with a move away from The Hawthorns this summer.

Preston North End have emerged as potential suitors for the winger whose deal at West Brom is set to run until 2025.

Whereas Robinson did struggle for form during the closing stages of the previous campaign, he still managed to provide 16 direct goal contributions in 43 appearances.

Taking this into consideration, it could be argued that West Brom should only be looking to part ways with him if they receive a significant offer from elsewhere.

If Robinson stays this summer, he will be determined to help the Baggies launch a push for promotion when he is fit enough to feature at senior level again.
