Aston Villa are set to be handed an end of season boost, by the return of Scott Hogan from injury, reports the Birmingham Mail.

Hogan suffered a serious-looking ankle injury in last month’s defeat to Newcastle United, and has missed Villa’s last four games.

Steve Bruce confirmed Hogan would not be available for this weekend’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday, but the striker would have a chance of featuring against Wigan Athletic on March 18th, he told the Birmingham Mail:

“We’re hoping to have him back in a fortnight.”

Hogan joined Villa from Brentford during the January transfer window, and has made four appearances for Bruce’s side, but failed to add to the 14-goals he scored for the Bees during the first-half of the season.

Bruce’s side failed to capitalise on a number of chances on Tuesday evening, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to high-flying Huddersfield Town, and the return to fitness of Hogan will boost Villa’s misfiring forward line.

Tuesday’s disappointing result ended Villa’s three-match winning run, which had lifted them away from the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone, and restored some pride at Villa Park in what has been a disappointing season.
