Aston Villa are set to be boosted by a number of returning stars this weekend, with Glenn Whelan likely to be the only senior player who isn’t available against Hull City tomorrow afternoon.

Steve Bruce has shared an extremely positive update to @AVFCOfficial this morning, with the likes of Neil Taylor, Alan Hutton and Axel Tuanzebe, who have missed recent fixtures, all in contention to return for Villa tomorrow at the KCOM Stadium.

The only absentee could be Whelan, with the game against Hull perhaps coming too soon for the Irish midfielder.

Whelan picked up the injury in Villa’s 3-0 victory over Sunderland and was forced to sit out against Queens Park Rangers and Bolton Wanderers, as Villa suffered back-to-back defeats.

Villa are looking to return to winning ways against Hull tomorrow, and will be boosted by another returning star, Jonathan Kodjia.

Kodjia has missed large parts of the season with an ankle injury, but Bruce has also confirmed that the Ivorian striker will be part of the matchday squad in Hull tomorrow.

The Verdict

The race for promotion is really going to gather pace in the coming weeks, and for Villa to have a long list of returning players, Bruce will be confident his side can have a successful end to the season.

Automatic promotion is a huge ask for Villa, however, the play-offs will be made easier by the return of some high-profile players.
