Sheffield Wednesday are expecting to be without Sam Hutchinson for the remainder of the season after the midfielder was forced off in the 2-2 draw at Norwich last night.

The 29-year-old was replaced in the 33rd minute at Carrow Road and boss Steve Bruce told the Sheffield Star that he has suffered a hamstring injury and revealed his frustration at another setback for the player.

"Hutch is a hamstring. I don't know, it's a repeated thing isn't it with Sam. Unfortunately he picks up too many. I don't know how bad it is going to be but you think that is probably going to him until the end of the season.

"It's two weeks to go. If you have got a hamstring you are probably not going to see it through but it's a theme isn't it."

As the manager touches on, the former Chelsea man has been unfortunate with injuries a lot over the years.

However, he has been a regular for Bruce since he took over at the start of February, establishing himself as a key player under the new regime.

The Owls are back in action on Easter Monday when they face Bristol City.

The Verdict

You have to feel sorry for Hutchinson who must be gutted that his season appears to be over.

We all know about his injury history and Bruce is frustrated by it too and it's a real shame because he's a very good player at this level.

In truth though, the Owls don't have much too play for until the end of the season so it gives Bruce a chance to look at other players ahead of a summer rebuild.
