Speaking to Aston Villa’s official website, Steve Bruce has blasted the club’s form away from Villa Park this season, claiming it is not good enough.

Bruce’s side lost 1-0 to relegation-threatened Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon, which was the club’s 13th defeat on the road in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

Villa have picked up just 18-points from a possible 69 away from Villa Park, something that Bruce insists must improve ahead of next season, when the club are hoping to challenge for promotion.

Delivering an honest review on the club’s away form, Bruce said: “We’ve been decent at home. It has been good. But away from home, we’re practically relegation material.

“We’re capable of throwing a hand grenade in like that and it isn’t good enough for a club like ours. It’s brought it all tumbling back to me this weekend about why I got the job.

“It doesn’t matter how I dress it up, a club like ours can’t have such a bad away form."

Villa’s away season is now finished, with just one fixture of the campaign remaining- a home clash with league leaders Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.

Bruce’s side are currently 12th in the Championship table, and after Saturday’s defeat, Villa cannot finish any higher than 11th.
