Steve Bruce has confirmed Aston Villa could welcome back Scott Hogan from injury in two weeks, reports the club's official Twitter account.

Hogan appeared to suffer a nasty ankle injury in last month’s defeat to Newcastle United, where the striker had to be stretchered from the pitch.

Bruce was previewing Saturday’s clash with Rotherham United, where he confirmed the news Villa could welcome back Hogan sooner than expected.

Hogan suffered a difficult start to life at Villa Park, following his deadline-day move from Brentford, failing to score in his four appearances for Villa.

The 24-year old was prolific during the first-half of the season, scoring 14 goals for Brentford, before finding his opportunities limited throughout January, due to transfer speculation.

However, there was disappointing news for Villa fans, with Bruce also confirming Andre Green could be missing for the next month.

The young winger has impressed recently for Villa, having made 14 appearances across the campaign.

Villa have reacted well in Hogan’s absence, recording back-to-back victories against Derby County and Bristol City, easing looming fears the club could be pulled into a relegation battle.
