Steve Bruce has confirmed that two of Aston Villa's injured players are back in training with the side.

In his press conference this morning, Bruce revealed that striker Scott Hogan is on the comeback trail, having completed ten training sessions with the first team squad.

Hogan joined Villa from Brentford at the beginning of 2017, but has been blighted with injuries and was heavily linked with a loan move to Sheffield United in the summer.

He's been out with a knee injury since the start of the current campaign, having last represented Villa in the play-off final against Fulham. His last goal for Bruce's side came in April against Reading.

Another player on the way back is 20-year old Keinan Davis, he too has yet to feature this season. Bruce has revealed he is also back with the first team, but that he's only completed two sessions so far.

He joined Villa from Biggleswade after being released by Stevenage's academy and has England Under 2o honours, but his last appearance came in March against Bolton Wanderers.

The Verdict

It is great for Villa fans to see two potentially important players coming back to fitness. Both will face a huge fight to get into the starting XI, but they'll offer added value on the bench.

Football is very much a squad game and both will be valuable squad members as Villa look to push up the table.
