Craig Dawson has been linked all summer with a move away from The Hawthorns, and there is no sign of that letting up.

The West Bromwich Albion defender handed in a transfer request at the start of July and despite that, was involved in a pre-season game for the Baggies.

Dawson, however, is now training away from the first team as a move looks ever closer.

Former Premier League champions Leicester are thought to be high on the defender and are keeping a keen eye on developments.

While it is being reported that the Scottish Premier League champions Celtic are also keen to bring the 28-year-old to Celtic Park as they look the bolster their defensive ranks ahead of yet another domestic title defence.

Burnley had initial interest at the start of the summer for Dawson’s services as they lodged a joint bid for the defender and fellow West Brom team-mate Jay Rodriguez which was rejected.

The Clarets have since moved on to other targets with the Scottish and English clubs going head-to-head to sign the former Rochdale defender as he looks to leave the Championship side after their relegation from the Premier League.

With Leicester keen on the defender’s services, would it be a good signing for the Foxes?

We discuss…

George Dagless

For sure.

Dawson is better than the Championship and would be a real asset for Leicester.

Could it mean Harry Maguire leaves, though?

Jay Williams

The worry here is that Leicester would lose the likes of Robert Huth and Harry Maguire and replace them with two defenders who were relegated in the same team last term.

The Foxes already snapped up Jonny Evans from West Brom and bringing Dawson in too would be a risk, considering the pair were part of the team that finished bottom last season.

But Dawson is a very good Premier League player, offering versatility (as he can play at right-back or centre-back), experience, height and composure on the ball.

Gary Hutchinson

Steer clear Leicester.

You have a national hero at the back, don’t pair him with a man who effectively goes on strike to get his own way.

Avoid.

Chris Gallagher

Yes, a very good signing.

Despite Albion's struggles, Dawson was one of the better performers and can easily do a job for a mid-table top-flight side.

Alfie Burns

Not for me.

They’ve already taken Jonny Evans on board and do they really want two of last season’s worst defensive units?

If I were Leicester I’d be leaving this expensive deal alone.
