Jos Luhukay has announced in this morning's press conference that Marco Matias is set for another 'two or three weeks' on the side lines

The Portuguese striker joined from C.D Nacional in 2015 for an undisclosed fee, but hasn't enjoyed the best of times at Hillsborough. He missed a chunk of last season whilst on the recovery table and has had an injury hit spell this season too, making just nine appearances and scoring once.

He was ruled out in August after the Carabao Cup defeat at Bolton, only returning to action in December as a late sub in the 2-0 defeat at Derby County.

He was last seen by Owls' fans being sent off as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat against struggling Birmingham City. Former Premier League referee Mark Halsey believed that to be the wrong decision, a view upheld by the FA. His card was rescinded, but he didn't get back across the paint as a knee injury ruled him out.

That aside, his form has been disappointing and in his entire Hillsborough stay he's managed just four goals. As Wednesday battle against relegation they need everyone fit and eager, but in the case of Matias, fans aren't convinced he's the answer to their problems.

They took to Twitter in response to the injury news to vent their frustration at the striker's continued absence.
