LUFC Trust has issued a statement this afternoon after the club confirmed earlier today that they are planning a post-season tour to Myanmar.

Certainly, this news raised a few eye-brows with the country recently being in the news for some very serious reasons and also with the fact that it's not a traditional place for a football club to explore.

For sure, then, fans will be rightly concerned about what could await them if they decide to travel to watch their team so they'll be happy the trust has sought comment from the club.

This is what the Whites have said:

“The two venues that we are visiting are both considered ‘Safe’ to travel to and located in regions not affected by any political turmoil.

"These areas are described as ‘Westernised’ and located far from the Northern areas affected by the unrest reported widely in the global media.

"The stadiums meet approved FIFA standards including high specification medical facilities and the required transport to hospital for any injured player."

As well as that, the trust has also said that it will offer any support to fans planning on making the trip though, perhaps unsurprisingly, it has also labelled the choice as 'controversial.'

The Verdict

This really was a strange piece of news to break this morning.

The Whites have had an odd season in truth but to throw this in at the end is surely something very few expected.

Of course, the club will have researched that it is safe to go out there and try and win over new fans but, equally, the reservations people have are more than understandable.
