Portsmouth currently find themselves in 3rd place in League One, with Kenny Jackett's side still vying for automatic promotion back to the Championship.

It has been a season of two halves so far, but Pompey have shown in recent times to be one of the best sides in the division, and the club will be looking to achieve what they did not manage to last season.

Portsmouth fans will not want to be reminded of last term, but has there been a whole lot of change surrounding the club in the last year?

If we compare Pompey's league position now to what it was like last season, the south coast side are six points worse off, but one place higher in the table.

On 2 March 2019, Pompey recorded their 18th league win of the season, dispatching Bradford City 5-1 at Fratton Park to put a relieving end to a run of eight games without victory.

We look back at how the fans felt at the time on today's FLW Rewind, with promotion still in Portsmouth's sights...

That result saw Pompey bounce back from a series of five disappointing draws - three of them were to relegation threatened sides at the time: Plymouth, Southend and Bristol Rovers.

However, Pompey's gap to Barnsley in 2nd place stood at two points, and they also had a three point cushion to Sunderland below them, who sat in 4th place. It seemed that automatic promotion was still on the cards.

As seen above, the fans felt that his result would be the kick start the team needed to go on a good end of season run in the league.

As it panned out, Portsmouth ended up amassing 23 points from their final eleven matches, which was a good return.

However, defeats to Charlton and Peterborough ultimately cost them an automatic promotion berth.

As things turned out, Pompey had to settle for the play-offs, where they lost to Sunderland 1-0 on aggregate over two legs.

The side will be hoping that they can go one better this season and finish inside the top two.
