A youthful Portsmouth side put in a terrific performance against Crystal Palace U21s to win all three points in last night's Football League Trophy clash.

The hosts ran out 3-0 winners over the Premier League club's academy side, in a performance that Danny Cowley will take plenty of positives from.

Miguel Azeez opened the scoring for the hosts, when the young midfielder won possession back on the half way line, starting an attack, with the ball ending up at his feet in the area, before he calmly slotted into the back of the net.

Gassan Ahadme then doubled the lead when he headed in from an enticing ball into the area from the right flank in the 54th minute.

After coming close on several occasions, George Hirst netted the goal that his performance deserved in the third minute of stoppage time when he battled away to get a shot off and find the back of the net.

It was strong performance from the 22-year-old who completed the scoring for the hosts, and a display that bolsters his chances of starting in the league.

Hirst is yet to start a League One game this season, but has been a regular from the bench.

Here, we take a look at how Portsmouth fans on Twitter reacted to his performance last night...
