Rangers and Brighton have expressed an interest in signing Reading midfielder Josh Laurent, according to The Sun.

Laurent impressed in League One for Shrewsbury Town before making the move to the Madejski Stadium last summer.

The midfielder has since established himself as a key player under Veljko Paunovic, making 45 starts in the Championship this term.

The 26-year-old’s performances have been impressive, scoring three goals and registering three assists from central midfield.

According to The Sun, Rangers and Brighton are weighing up an £8million move for Laurent, who is out of contract at the end of next season.

Steven Gerrard is believed to view Laurent as an ideal midfield signing, whilst Brighton are contemplating potential replacements for Yves Bissouma.

Reading will not want to lose their key players this summer after narrowly missing out on a play-off finish this season, with Yakou Meite also attracting interest.
