Tom Carroll has sent a message to Aston Villa on social media, after the midfielder was ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.

The 26-year-old has returned to his parent club Swansea City following hip surgery, after making just two substitute appearances during his short loan spell at Villa Park.

Villa confirmed the news earlier today with this message on Twitter and Carroll was quick to respond, wishing the Championship club all the best for the rest of the season.

Carroll made 13 appearances for Swansea during the first half of the campaign but was then sidelined until the new year.

He moved to Villa Park on transfer deadline day in January but his hip problem has prevented the player from making the impact he would of hoped.

The player returns to Swansea, who are currently 14th in the Championship table. Meanwhile, Villa are on a great run and have climbed into the play-off places after winning their last five successive matches.

The Verdict:

It's always a shame to see player ruled out for the season through injury and it's fair to say that things didn't work out as planned for the midfielder at Villa Park.

This message to his former club is good stuff from Carroll and the player must now focus on getting fit for pre-season ahead of the 2019-20 campaign with Swansea.
