Birmingham City goalkeeper David Stockdale has been involved in a Twitter spat with fans after admitting that he doesn't want to come back to the club to "train with the under-18's".

The 33-year-old recently saw his emergency loan spell at League One side Wycombe Wanderers end after making just two appearances for Gareth Ainsworth's men, despite being linked with a move to Leeds United before his move to Adams Park.

Stockdale has been frozen out by Blues boss Garry Monk this term after failing to make an appearance for the West Midlands club since the end of last season, and loan spells at Southend United and Wycombe consisting of a total of five appearances has failed to work out this season.

On his Twitter page, Stockdale said that he'd "love to play" for Birmingham again, however, doesn't "want to come back and train with the Under-18s".

Birmingham sit 10th in the Championship after a 2-0 win away at Millwall on Wednesday night - Monk's men find themselves sitting just four points off the playoff places.

The Verdict

What on earth has happened to Stockdale? He played a huge part in Brighton's promotion to the Premier League, and looked like he'd be a sensational signing for Birmingham after arriving at St. Andrew's last season. Since then, loan moves to League One haven't worked out and he's now arguing with fans on Twitter. How football can change!
