Luke Amos has missed large parts of the season with Queens Park Rangers but after making an impact of late, does he deserve an extended run in the first-team?

If there's anything to take from QPR's 5-3 defeat to Barnsley at the weekend, it was Luke Amos scoring his first and second goals for the club.

The Tottenham midfielder was twice in the right place at the right time to score two relatively simple goals, but in that midfield-three, he was allowed some more attacking freedom and showed how he effective he can be in such a role.

He's been in and out of the team this season, on and off the physio's table, but is it time for him to have a good run in the starting line-up?

In the latest FLW Six-Pointer, we discuss whether it's time for Mark Warburton to give Amos a consistent spell in the first-team.

Why hasn't he played many games this season?

"Amos has struggled with injuries. He started the season in the line-up but between the end of August and the start of November, he played less than an hour of football.

"Now though he looks to be back to full fitness and he's again showing why he was so highly-rated in pre-season."

How much competition does Amos have in central midfield?

"QPR have plenty of players capable of doing a job in central midfield, but Amos is probably the stand-out candidate.

"Warburton has been toying with a three-strong and a diamond midfield this season and though QPR lost at Barnsley with three in midfield, Amos looked at his best in that position."

How's he been playing lately?

"Amos has now played in the last seven games for QPR and has played the full-ninety in the last two.

"He looks like he's quickly returned to his firing best after missing so much football but especially in the last two outings, Amos has looked one of QPR's best players on the pitch, and his goals were testament to how he's been playing lately."

Do QPR look a better team with him in it?

"Absolutely. Though QPR haven't had all the right results in the past few weeks, Amos' reintroduction to the squad has given them a new dynamic from midfield - he's a real box-to-box midfielder, and one who's more than capable of changing a game."

What's his best role in the starting line-up?

"Amos has all the attributes of a fine midfielder - clean passing both long and short, the ability to score and to tackle as well. He could play in any position and be effective but having seen him score twice on Saturday, his best role is probably more of an attacking one."

Will Warburton give him a consistent spot in the team?

"Warburton has done a fine job at QPR so far this season, but sometimes his team selection has come under the spotlight. Last weekend at Barnsley he swapped a back-four which had kept two clean sheets to a back-five and conceded as many.

"Although he's been favouring Amos recently he could well decide to drop him or rest him, but right now he's one of Warburton's best players, and it's hard to see him dropping him from the starting line-up."
