Tottenham Hotspur are set to recall Jack Clarke from his loan spell at Leeds United according to Sky Sports.

Clarke has hardly seen any first team action this season under the management of Marcelo Bielsa, who has given him just one appearance in their league campaign to date.

The youngster left Leeds in the summer of 2019, as he moved to Spurs but was immediately loaned back to the Yorkshire-based club in the hope that he would find regular game time in senior football.

But that hasn't been the case, with the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Jack Harrison and Helder Costa being ahead of Clarke in the pecking order in Bielsa's plans this season.

Due to EFL rules, clubs are only allowed to have a certain amount of loan players in their match-day squad each game, and that has led to Clarke often being the player to miss out.

The report from Sky Sports claims that Jose Mourinho is keen to take a look at Clarke ahead of the New Year, before deciding whether he could play his part for the Spurs first team this season, or whether another loan move is on the horizon.

So, it could be an interesting January transfer window for Clarke, as he looks to potentially force his way into Mourinho's plans for the first team at Tottenham Hotspur, as they look to build on some impressive showings since he took charge of the club.

The Verdict:

I'm not surprised by this in the slightest.

Clarke has hardly featured for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season, and I thought it would only be a matter of time before he was recalled by Spurs.

Leeds could live to regret their decision not to play him on a more frequent basis, especially if other members of their squad are to pick up injuries in the second-half of this year's league campaign.
