Tottenham's hopes of striking a deal with Hull City's Jarrod Bowen were dealt an irritating blow, with the midfielder admitting that he's open to staying with Grant McCann's side in a recent interview with Hull Live.

It has previously been reported by Sky Sports that Spurs were keen to land Bowen's signature during the summer transfer window, although a move never materialised.

Bowen has gone on to pick up where he left off last season, by impressing and proving to be Hull's main attacking threat going forward.

The 22-year-old already has six goals and two assists to his name, and will be quietly confident that he can beat last season's total which stands at 22 goals and four assists.

For any player, you're going to be wanting to play consistently at the highest level possible, which is something that Bowen could be doing with Spurs in the future.

But his recent comments suggest that he isn't keen to move on from the KCOM Stadium, which will be a frustrating update to hear for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Spurs boss is coming under intense pressure to turn their poor run of form around, which has seen them slip down to seventh in the Premier League table.

If his side continue to struggle to produce positive results, then it certainly wouldn't come as a surprise to see Pochettino dipping into the transfer market to find a hidden gem.

Bowen could be that player, and he's already shown that he can take games to teams on his own at times, having won Hull crucial points in the Championship last season.

There will, and rightly so, be doubts as to whether Bowen can adjust to the demands of Premier League football yet, but at the age of 22, he needs to be given an opportunity to impress at a higher level than where he is currently playing his football.

Spurs need a game-changer, and Bowen is certainly that, with his direct style of play, and close dribbling proving to be a real handful for full-back's.

In total, Bowen made 128 successful dribbles last season, and has already made 27 successful dribbles in this year's campaign, so it's clear to see that this is an attribute that he has in his locker (Stats sourced from Wyscout).

Tottenham can't afford to be wasting any time in the transfer market, and they shouldn't be put off by Bowen's recent comments, as they'll know that the prospect of playing in the Premier League and on the European stage will be too good of an offer to turn down for any player in the Championship.
