Tottenham are reportedly eyeing another EFL centre-back in addition to their ongoing pursuit of Swansea City's Joe Rodon.

The deadline for international transfers may have passed but the domestic window doesn't close until the 16th of October, and it appears Spurs are keen to take advantage of that.

The north London club emerged as suitors for Rodon late yesterday and it appears things have developed relatively quickly as talks are understood to be ongoing with a fee between £7 million and £18 million being discussed.

They're not putting all their eggs in one basket in seems, however, as Sky Sports journalists have reported that Tottenham are eyeing another central defender from the EFL alongside their move for Rodon.

Jose Mourinho already has a plethora of options at centre-back available to him, with Davison Sanchez, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Japhet Tanganga, and Cameron Carter-Vickers in his squad, but it appears the club are keen to strengthen at the position.

In Rodon they look to be signing a player for the future and you'd suspect that will likely be the same case for the other EFL they're thought to be eyeing.

The Verdict

It seems that Spurs are keen to take advantage of the additional time they have to make domestic signings and are targeting not one but two central defenders.

Rodon looks a very shrewd addition particularly if the fee ends up below £12 million and it will be interesting to see if and when the identity of the second target emerges.

The indications are that they're looking to bring in both this summer, which is something of a surprise given four of their centre-backs are on long-term deals.

You feel any potential arrivals will mean that Carter-Vickers will once again be sent out on loan.
