Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are battling it out to sign Hull City’s Harry Maguire this summer, with the defender set to leave East Yorkshire, following the Tigers’ relegation from the Premier League, reports the Mirror’s live blog (28/5, 14:16).

Hull’s relegation, combined with Marco Silva quitting the KCOM Stadium, has led to Maguire deciding against remaining with the Tigers in the Sky Bet Championship.

It is believed that Spurs and Everton are favourites to sign the 24-year old, whose signature will cost a reported £22m this summer.

Despite Hull’s relegation from the top-flight, Maguire stood out for the Tigers during the 2016/17 campaign, making 29 appearances in the Premier League and scoring two goals.

Should Maguire opt for a move to Spurs or Everton, he will find himself playing European football next season, with the two clubs set to compete in the Champions League and Europa League respectively.

The defender is reportedly in-favour of a move to Spurs, who will be playing their home fixtures at Wembley next season, but has accepted dislodging Toby Alderweireld or Jan Vertonghen from the starting XI will be difficult.
