Premier League giants Spurs and Arsenal could be set to go head to head to in a bid to sign teenage defender Ben Wilmot, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon.

The Stevenage man, who is still only 18, has broken into the first team this season and has looked assured in his performances so far, drawing admiring glances from both the Championship and the top flight.

However, it now seems that two London's fiercest rivals could be set to battle it out for the defender, with Mauricio Pochettino and Arsene Wenger both keen on taking the impressive youngster to their club and adding some young English talent to the ranks.

Wilmot has little in the way of first team experience, but at 6 foot 2, is an imposing presence at the back for the League Two side, and has looked far more accomplished than his minimal first team appearances would suggest so far.

With both Spurs and the Gunners looking at signing the defender and willing to pay the £1m asking price, Stevenage would find it hard to resist turning down such an offer for a young player.

Stevenage fans, what do you make of this? How good is Wilmot? Let us know in the comments!
