Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen have made an approach to Sheffield Wednesday about the possibility of taking striker Stevie May on loan, reports the Daily Record.
It is understood that the Dons manager Derek McInnes has held talks with Wednesday boss Stuart Gray about taking the striker to Pittodrie on a season-long loan.
McInnes is hoping that the former St. Johnstone striker will opt to a return to Scotland rather than fall down the pecking order at Hillsborough as the Championship club’s new Thai owners are set to bankroll a major rebuild this summer.
May joined the Owls last summer on a four-year contract in a deal worth around £800,000 but has scored just seven times in 39 appearances.
An overhaul is expected next season at Hillsborough as the new owners look to make Wednesday a force in the Championship next season.
McInnes is looking to improve his squad for next season to close the gap on title-winning Celtic and believes May could be the man to fire Aberdeen closer to the Scottish Premiership title.
