Sunderland's recent resurgence came to a shuddering halt on Saturday afternoon, as they were beaten 2-0 by Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

It was the hosts who were on top for much of the game, and they would take the lead 25 minutes in when Christian Burgess - on his 200th appearance for the club - headed in from Ronan Curtis' corner.

Kenny Jackett's side would then double their lead shortly after the break, with Curtis again the provider, as James Bolton turned in his cross from close range.

That was enough to secure all three points for Portsmouth, and bring an end to Sunderland's nine-game unbeaten run, leaving the Black Cats seventh in the League One table, two points behind Pompey in the final play-off place.

Taking to Twitter after the game, plenty of Sunderland fans were keen to give their thoughts on the defeat to their promotion rivals.

Here, we take a look at what some of them had to say.
