‘Spineless’, ‘A day to forget’ – These Sheffield Wednesday react after Blackburn defeat

Blackburn Rovers thumped Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at Hillsborough.

The Owls have been in and about the play-off places in the Championship so far this season but they produced a poor performance against Blackburn on Saturday afternoon.

Sitting midway in the league standings, Tony Mowbray’s visitors got off to the perfect start when Lewis Holtby opened the scoring just before the 20th minute mark.

Massimo Luongo was sent off just moments later to rub salt in to the wounds of Wednesday, and their Saturday afternoon became even worse when Cameron Dawson put the ball in to his own net

The first half scoring would not stop though as Holtby grabbed a second of his own in first half stoppage time.

The second half opened with another goal from the visitors as Darragh Lenihan struck and Sam Gallagher scored late on to make it five.
