Middlesbrough have wasted no time in making changes to their squad ahead of the new transfer window.

So far, the club have added Darragh Lenihan and Ryan Giles to their ranks, whilst sending goalkeeper Joe Lumley out on loan to fellow Championship side Reading.

Boro just missed out on a play-off place last campaign, and Chris Wilder will be keen for them to at least one place better this time around.

With the above in mind, here, FLW brings you all the latest transfer news surrounding Middlesbrough at present.

Djed Spence update

As per our FLW exclusive earlier today, Boro are becoming increasingly frustrated with Tottenham as the two clubs fail to agree a deal for Djed Spence.

This has potentially opened the door for Nottingham Forest, with it said that a move back to the City Ground is not out of the question at this stage.

Spence spent last campaign on loan at Forest and impressed, playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League.

It had appeared that Spurs had won the race for Spence's signature, but it appears there is still hope for Forest.

David McGoldrick discussions

It also emerged earlier today that David McGoldrick has held 'productive discussions' with Boro ahead of a potential move to the club this summer.

As per The Northern Echo, the 34-year-old attended Boro's training ground last Friday in order to discuss a deal with boss Chris Wilder and the wider recruitment team at the club.

McGoldrick is a free agent this summer with the player set to depart Sheffield United when his current deal expires there in the coming days.

The 34-year-old worked under Boro boss Wilder when at Sheffield United.

Further departures

The same report from The Northern Echo also reveals further departures expected at Boro in the coming weeks.

As per the report, Chuba Akpom and Uche Ikpeazu are expected to depart the Riverside Stadium in the next few weeks.

Akpom spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Paok in Greece.

Meanwhile, Ikpeazu made 20 Championship appearances for Boro before spending the second half of the season out on loan at Cardiff City.
