Ex-Bristol City midfielder Jordan Wynter has revealed that former Robins teammate Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is the best player that he has ever played with, in an exclusive interview with Football League World

Wynter and Emmanuel-Thomas came through the Arsenal youth set-up three years apart and linked up again at City ahead of the 2013/14 campaign–the Robins' first after relegation to League One.

Emmanuel-Thomas terrorised opposition sides while at the South West club–grabbing 33 goals and 20 assists across two seasons before leaving to join QPR on a free transfer.

Wynter, who was just 19 when he arrived at Ashton Gate, found opportunities hard to come by at City and made eight appearances before leaving for Cheltenham Town.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, the 26-year-old was asked to name the best player he has played with in his career.

Despite having featured alongside players like Hector Bellerin and Serge Gnabry in Arsenal age-group sides, Wynter revealed it was Emmanuel-Thomas.

He explained: "I’ve got to give it to Jay Emmanuel-Thomas because of that season.

“Watching him and playing with him, the way that he showcased his ability in that season alone was really something.

“I knew he was capable of it but seeing in a first-team environment was spectacular.”

Wynter added: “It was clear everywhere (that he had talent). Clear in training, clear in the changing room, clear on the pitch on game day. Everyone knew.

“Everyone sort of knows about him anyway but once you actually play with him and watch him in training, you can understand the hype.

“The thing with him is although he’s got bags of ability he is a certain type of player that needs to play in a team that plays in a certain style, so some teams might not suit him or help him flourish.

“If he is a key part of what a team is trying to do he will definitely get you results."
