The 27-year-old is set to leave the La Liga outfit this summer after five years at the club where he made 163 appearances, scoring 17 goals.

The midfielder helped the Spanish club to an eighth-placed finish in Spain’s top-flight last season, featured 28 times and scoring two goals.

Wednesday are planning for a promotion challenge to the Premier League this coming season and newly-appointed head coach Carlos Carvalhal has been given funds to build a squad that can make that happen.

Alex Lopez, real name Alejandro Lopez Sanchez, began his career at Racing Ferrol before having spells with O Val and Naron.

He featured to the Celta Vigo B side during the 2009/10 season and scored 13 goals in 36 matches, which led him to being promoted to the main squad.
