According to an interview with Spanish media outlet Marca, Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil has revealed that he would like to stay at Deportivo La Coruna next season.

Carles Gil is currently on a season long loan deal at Spanish La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna from Aston Villa and is keen to extend his stay in Spain.

The Spaniard admitted that he was very happy and settled at Deportivo but he would have to speak with parent club Aston Villa first.

Since he left on loan in the summer, Aston Villa have seen a change in management and he will need to discuss his future with Steve Bruce at the end of the season.

Gil has 14 La Liga games for Deportivo under his belt, contributing with four assists as Pepe Mel’s side continue to battle against relegation.

The diminutive 24-year-old showed glimpses of his talent during his time with Aston Villa in the Premier League but he is likely to be playing Championship football if he returns next season.
