Spanish giants make first move in race to sign highly-sought after Brentford ace

Spanish La Liga side Sevilla are interested in signing Brentford striker Neal Maupay this summer, according to reports from L’Equipe via Sport Witness.

The 22-year-old is likely to be a player in serious demand this summer, after enjoying a hugely impressive season with Brentford last term.

The Bees finished much lower down than they would have liked in the Sky Bet Championship table, but the French forward scored 28 goals and produced nine assists in all competitions, rounding off an eye-catching individual campaign.

Newly-promoted Premier League side Aston Villa have been linked with the striker’s signature, with Dean Smith reportedly eyeing a reunion with the prolific forward.

But now, reports from Maupay’s home country of France, via Sport Witness, claim that Sevilla are interested in the striker, and that his agent has flew to Seville to discuss a potential summer move to Spain.

The same report claims that Brentford will look to demand around €10million for their star-man’s signature this summer, despite having two years left on his current deal at Griffin Park.

The Verdict

A move to Spain could be a preferred destination for Maupay, especially with European football on offer should he make the switch to Sevilla.

It will be so hard for Brentford to keep hold of him this summer, but to me, 10million doesn’t seem a lot at all, and the Bees should definitely look to demand almost double that this summer.

He contributed to so many goals last season and still has a couple of years left on his contract. They have no reason to sell, so push for £20million at the very least in my opinion.
