The 26-year-old winger was an integral member of the Gillingham setup and was offered new terms with the club. However, Weston rejected the offer in search of a move elsewhere.

He joined Gillingham in 2012 from Brentford and has since gone on to make 82 appearances for the club whilst he has managed to score 10 times. He joins Southend on a two-year deal and is the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
Southend boss Phil Brown told the website, “I’m delighted to have Myles joining us here at Southend United. His pace and trickery will cause defences in this division all sorts of problems.
“He knows what it takes to win promotion from League 2, having done so with Gillingham a couple of years ago. He’s got that experience and should have a big part to play for us next season.”
Weston told the website, “I’m really pleased to have finalised the move to Southend United, and I can’t wait to get start in pre-season.
