The manager of Sky Bet League One side Southend United, Phil Brown is hopeful of completing a deal to sign winger Zavon Hines on a permanent basis, according to the Echo.
Hines has been a free agent since being released by Dagenham & Redbridge following their relegation to the National League at the end of last season, but Southend have had the 27 year-old on trial for the last three weeks, reportedly.
Brown is confident Zavon Hines will put pen-to-paper on a deal at Roots Hall before Southend’s tie at home to Oxford United in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night.
The ex-Hull City boss said to the Echo: ”Zavon is having talks with the chairman and his agent and I’m hopeful it will get resolved in time for the game tomorrow night”.
Hines’ career includes time at West Ham United between 2007-2011, before going to Burnley for a year and ending up playing for Bradford City in 2012.
He was part of the famous Bantams team which made its way to the League Cup Final at Wembley in 2013 – which includes victories against Arsenal and Aston Villa.
