Southampton are eyeing a move for Accrington Stanley goalkeeper Toby Savin according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Savin has spent his youth career with the likes of Wigan Athletic, Everton and Crewe Alexandra before moving to Accrington Stanley in 2017.

The shot-stopper has made ten appearances for Accrington Stanley this season in a breakthrough campaign with the League One club.

Accrington Stanley are currently sat 12th in the third-tier standings, and will be hoping they can put together a positive run of results at the earliest of opportunities.

It appears as though Savin's strong performances haven't gone unnoticed though, with Southampton reportedly eyeing a move for the 19-year-old.

The Saints are currently sat seventh in the Premier League table after their opening six matches of this year's campaign under the management of Ralph Hasenhüttl.

It seems highly unlikely that Savin will be used for the Saints' first-team squad, with Hasenhüttl already having some strong options between the posts.

Savin will be hoping to make a good impression on his potential suitors this weekend, when they take on Plymouth Argyle, in what is likely to be a tricky test for the goalkeeper.

The Verdict:

He's got a bright future ahead of him.

Savin has had a strong start to this year's campaign with Accrington Stanley, and I'm not surprised to hear that he's attracting interest from other clubs.

You would imagine that he'll be tempted by a move to a club in the Premier League as well, as any young player will want to be playing at the highest level possible.

But he will have to think about his game time in senior football, as I find it hard to believe that he'll be involved in Southampton's first-team anytime soon.
