According to the Telegraph, Southampton are considering a swap deal involving Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon.

The January transfer window is not long away now and we've already seen some big deals happening involving the club from the South Coast.

Indeed, Liverpool and the Saints finally struck a deal for Virgil van Dijk with a world record fee for a defender being struck and it would seem that the Saints are now looking to reinvest that cash.

Who they go for exactly remains to be seen but Sessegnon is apparently a target with the club looking to swap one of their players for the Fulham man as part of a deal.

Indeed, the report suggests that the men from St. Mary's are willing to let full-back Matt Targett go the other way in any deal that gets struck.

Targett is a bright and decently talented full-back but looks as though he's not quite good enough for the Premier League at this point.

He's certainly capable of that if he gets minutes under his belt, though, and so he might be eager for a move to Fulham himself.

Whether the Lilywhites are open to this deal, though, remains to be seen.

The Verdict

Fulham are going to have to swat away attention for Sessegnon again it seems.

Whether they can hold out for another window is also up for debate but at least they might have a back-up option with this potential Southampton deal.
