Birmingham City striker Che Adams is a target for Southampton this summer as the Premier League side look to strengthen under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The new boss has worked wonders since he was appointed on the south coast and the Mail report that he will be prioritising three new signings in the summer - two wingers and a striker.

And, they claim that Adams is high on the list of targets for the Saints after his excellent campaign with Blues in the Championship.

The former Sheffield United man has scored an impressive 22 goals for Garry Monk's side and has impressed with his pace, power and overall ability at leading the line.

The report also states that a £15m fee has been mentioned, as it was in January, but Birmingham refused to sell then as they were under a transfer embargo so couldn't bring in any replacements.

Yet, Southampton won't have a free run for Adams, with Burnley and Norwich also credited with an interest in the player, who seems certain to leave at the end of the season.

The Verdict

Blues will be resigned to the fact that Adams will be moving on in the summer and realistically it's about getting the best possible fee for their star man.

You'd think that £15m is relatively cheap in today's market and they will hope an auction between the three interested clubs could push the price up.

As for Adams, he will feel he is ready for the Premier League now and Southampton would be a good move for the 22-year-old.
