Premier League sides AFC Bournemouth and Southampton are in the race to sign Swansea City star Daniel James, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The 21-year old has caught the eye of plenty of high-profile clubs this season, after becoming a standout performer for Graham Potter's men.

The winger has netted three times and produced five assists for the Swans this term, and recently scored Wales' winner in a 1-0 victory against Slovakia at the weekend.

James was heavily linked with a move to high-flying Championship side Leeds United in January, but with the Whites missing out on the winger thanks to Swansea pulling the plug on the deal, they could now be set to miss out for good.

Reports from the Sun claim that Premier League champions Manchester City are lining up a £7million move for the 21-year old, with fresh reports from the Daily Mail claiming that both AFC Bournemouth and Southampton are tracking the winger's progress.

It is looking increasingly likely that James will depart the Liberty Stadium in the summer, with only a year left on his current deal with the club and talks coming to a standstill. The Swans currently sit 14th in the Sky Bet Championship table, ten points off the play-off spots.

The Verdict

This really doesn't surprise me at all, as we will continue to see plenty of high-profile clubs declare an interest in James between now and the end of the season.

He is an incredible talent who has a massive future ahead of him, and I cannot see Leeds landing him if they stay in the Championship beyond this campaign.

I think AFC Bournemouth would be an excellent move for him, when you take a look at how well David Brooks has done since joining Eddie Howe's men.
