Sky Bet Championship outfit Leeds United are attracting interest from the Premier League side Southampton for key defender Pontus Jansson, according to Clubcall.
The Swedish centre-back has been one of the reasons as to why Garry Monk’s team currently sit inside the play-offs but may lose their star man this summer.
The 26-year-old signed a permanent deal with Leeds last month following his loan spell at Elland Road from Italian side Torino.
Jansson was a transfer target for the Saints a number of years ago following his exit from Malmo but opted to move to Italy, despite Aston Villa also showing a keenness at the time.
Reports suggest Southampton sent scouts to watch him at the weekend in their victory over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday, and were impressed to what they saw.
Although Pontus Jansson is likely to stay at Leeds United if they return to the top-flight after a thirteen-year absence.
The Sweden international has made 29 appearances this season for the club.
