Southampton are interested in making a move for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ebere Eze in January, according to reports from The Sun.

The Saints brought in one of the most exciting players in the Championship in Che Adams in the summer, and Ralph Hasenhuttl's side are now believed to be interested in adding another talented youngster to their ranks.

Eze has enjoyed a hugely impressive start to the Championship season, with the attacking midfielder netting his second goal of the season against Wigan Athletic in a 3-1 win at the weekend.

The playmaker played as a number 10 for the R's last season, but has often found himself rotating out wide under new manager Mark Warburton, as the R's lie in 13th spot in the league standings.

The Sun claims that Eze, who was wanted by Tottenham and Leeds last term, is on the radar of Southampton's director of scouting Ross Wilson, as he prepares to thrash up a list of transfer targets ahead of January.

Wilson is understood to have watched the 21-year-old in action in midweek, as the West London side stuttered to a 3-1 home defeat against Swansea City.

Eze's contract at Loftus Road expires in the summer of 2021, so it will be interesting to see how the R's respond if Southampton make a bid in the winter.

The Verdict

I think that Eze is one of the most underrated players in the Championship, and he would fit seamlessly into the Premier League.

He has been incredible so far this season, providing a real spark going forward and producing some fantastic goals.

The run for his strike against Stoke on opening day showed just what he is capable of when he is at his best, and he is definitely a player that could be a perfect fit at the St. Mary's.
