West Ham United hope the transfer of Winston Reid to Brentford could leave them in favour with the Bees as they eye a move for Ivan Toney in the future, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.

Earlier on during this transfer deadline day, Football League World exclusively revealed that the defender was set for a loan switch to the Griffin Park club, joining from the Premier League Hammers.

Indeed, the Bees have confirmed the deal in the hours since in the latest bit of business between the two clubs, following on from Said Benrahma going in the other direction at the start of the season.

And, keeping with that theme, Football League World has been told exclusively that the Irons are monitoring in form striker Ivan Toney, with a hope that the Reid loan could put them in good stead should they want to make a move for the forward in markets to come.

Toney has been exceptional for Brentford this season with 19 goals in 25 appearances, including a hat-trick last time out in the 7-2 win against Wycombe Wanderers.

Brentford will hope he can fire them into the Premier League this year, then, but West Ham might be hopeful they miss out in a potential boost to their chances of getting him.
